Who Won the First Debate?

Jill Ainsworth

So….who won the first round of the debates? Romney? Obama?  If we look only through a close up view, we listen and hear from the media pundits’ things like, “Romney was polished and ready”, “Obama, in just dealing with the basics, was clueless”...

The American people have just 4 weeks to decide who will sit in the White House for the next four years. I hear from so many people that it is a choice between “the lesser of 2 evils”. So, before you drop your vote in the box, it might be a good idea to pull back on the camera lens and get a wide view, and ask yourself a few questions:

  • What is right about voting for “the lesser of 2 evils”? Why is this concept such an addiction? Evil is evil. Poison is poison. If someone is offering you a drink with poison in it, does it really matter how much poison is in it? The only “appearance” of a lesser amount is you just might live a bit longer and I might add, with the lesser, you would be able to suffer a little while longer.

  • The greater question to ask yourself is do you really want change? Do you really want a candidate with proven track records, stable and consistent voting records, principle and integrity?
    • If your answer to the above is yes, then you must realize the futility of voting for one of “the lesser of 2 evils”. This should be even more pressing on the Christian’s mind.
    • What if you had another political choice? What if you voted your conscience, did your duty and left the results to God? Remember, God shows up BIG when His people choose what is true and right. (i.e. Gideon, Esther, Abraham & Isaac, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego...) Duty is ours, results are God's.
    • Are you seeking the Truth even if it upsets your comfort zone and what you have been taught to believe?
    • Are you willing to hear and learn the whole truth? Is it worth your time?

Remember the old saying regarding Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Continuing to vote for “the lesser of two evils” and expecting truth and goodness to come from that decision is insanity.
